Town of Duck, North Carolina

DUCK COMMUNITY & BUSINESS ALLIANCE:  The DCBA was incorporated in 1997. In 2006 the organization merged with the former Duck Civic Association. The purposes of the DCBA as stated in the Articles of Incorporation are to protect, promote and enhance the coastal village ambience of Duck by supporting policies that will (1) protect the environmental integrity of the Town through appropriate land use and zoning regulations; (2) promote Duck as a pedestrian-friendly destination where families can leisurely stroll, shop, and dine; (3) enhance the physical and material appearance of Duck through cooperative measures addressed by merchants and the community; (4) sustain active business and community prosperity through the above means; and (5) engage in all other activities as appropriate.

DCBA officers are George Keefe, owner of North Beach Outfitters, President and Treasurer, Ed Brooks, Vice President, Lynne Alterman, Secretary. Other Board members include Mark Copeland, owner of Roadside Café, Jon Britt, owner of Nor'Banks Sailing, Don Zerbe, owner of Duck's General Store, John Wander, David Holt and Steve Alterman.

Since its inception, DCBA has supported the construction of the Mid-Currituck Sound Bridge and continues to work on this project in conjunction with the Build the Bridge, Preserve Our Roads organization. Since incorporation of the Town of Duck, DCBA has and will continue to monitor and work with Town officials on various issues, including zoning, signage, lighting, development and design of the new Town Offices, and the use of the new Town Park.
