Through December 31, 2009, the Town of Duck Council has waived building permit fees to repair storm-damaged structures resulting from the remnants of Hurricane Ida (November 12-14, 2009). If you have a storm-damaged structure, please obtain a permit prior to the December 31 deadline. Permits are being expedited by Town staff to facilitate the restoration of these structures to a safe condition. If the structure poses a safety hazard and has been posted by the Town’s Building Inspector, it should be immediately repaired or sufficiently secured to prevent its use. Issued permits will remain valid through the remainder of the off-season. Repair work does not have to be completed immediately; however, steps should be taken to ensure that the structure is not used.
