The North Carolina Department of Transportation, through its contractor, RPC Contracting, Inc., has advised the Town of Duck that the road repaving project originally scheduled to begin on Monday, November 1, 2011 in the Town’s Village Commercial district will begin the week of Monday, November 14, 2011. The project area has been extended and will begin at Seahawk Drive, instead of Plover Drive, and will continue through the Town to just north of Sandy Ridge Drive. There will also be repair work done on Duck Road (NC 12) near Sea Colony to fix areas damaged by the hurricane. This phase of the project is expected to take three to four days depending on weather conditions. During the repaving and striping, motorists can expect traffic delays due to temporary lane closures throughout the project area. Traffic conditions along NC 12 approaching Duck from the south may be viewed online on the TrafficLand website at: http://www.trafficland.com/city/OBX
The North Carolina Department of Transportation, through its contractor, RPC Contracting, Inc., will also be repaving some of the secondary roads within the Town of Duck. This activity will be undertaken on or around the same time as the Duck Road (NC 12) project and should have minimal effect on Duck Road traffic. The secondary roads that will be affected include Plover Drive, Teresa Court in the Ocean Dunes subdivision, and all of the roads in the Carolina Dunes subdivision.
