MINUTES
May 2,

The Community Improvement
Committee for the Town of Duck convened at the Duck Municipal Offices at 9:00
a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2006.
MEMBERS
PRESENT: Chairwoman Lisa Mann, Member George Grinnan and Member
Allen Lehew.
OTHERS PRESENT:
Public Relations/Special Events Coordinator Kathy McCullough-Testa.
OLD BUSINESS
- The committee was updated on
the project progress of the current Village Improvement Grant awardees:
VIP-2005-001 Farmers Daughter; VIP-2005-002 Schooner Ridge; VIP-2005-003
Poteskeet Property Owners Association; VIP-2005-004 Kellogg Supply Company;
VIP-2006-005 Olde Duck POA; VIP-2006-006 Caffey’s Inlet Hamlet Owners
Association; and VIP-2006-007 Sandy Ridge Homeowners Association.
NEW BUSINESS
- Village Improvement Program
Grants were unanimously awarded to Wild Duck Dunes Homeowners Association for
$1,500 and to The Waterfront Shops for $2,500.
- A Village Improvement Program
Grant was awarded to Loblolly Pines in the amount of $1,800 based upon the
condition that all of the individual signs in the shopping center be properly
permitted prior to disbursement of funds.
- The Annual 2006 Community
Appearance Awards were selected. They are:

APPROVAL OF
MINUTES
- Minutes from the April 6, 2006
meeting were unanimously approved.
OTHER BUSINESS
STAFF COMMENTS
- An on-line ballot form is
being developed to accept Community Appearance Award nominations through the
Town web site.
BOARD COMMENTS
- An idea was brought up about
recognizing those who have helped to form the community somehow within the new
park area. This will be discussed more at a future meeting.
