TOWN OF DUCK ANNOUNCES ITS HOLIDAY
COMMUNITY APPEARANCE AWARD WINNERS
Duck, NC - On Tuesday, December 20, 2005, the Town of Duck presented its Holiday Community Appearance Awards. The awards are designed to recognize homeowners, community associations, and business owners in their efforts to enhance, improve, and beautify the Town of Duck.
Mayor Neil Morrison presented this year’s holiday seasonal display awards.
Commercial awards were presented to:
· Commercial Daytime Award: Scarborough Faire, 1177 Duck Road, owned by Walter Story;
· Commercial Night Time Award: Duck Village Outfitters, 1207 Duck Road, owned by Robert and Tanya Hovey;
· Commercial Honorable Mention: Duck’s Cottage, 1240 Duck Road in the Waterfront Shops, co-owned by Allen Lehew and John Power, display/decorations by Allen Lehew.
Residential awards were presented to:
· 1st place: Theodore and Cynthia Majewski, 106 Skimmer Way in Sanderling;
· 2nd place: Ken & Claiborne Yarbrough, 101 Azalea Court in Tuckahoe;
· 3rd place: Marilyn March, 103 Mallard Drive in Wild Duck Dunes
Neighborhood awards were presented as follows:
· United Neighborhood Holiday Appearance Award was presented to Wild Duck Dunes;
· Neighborhood Entrance Holiday Appearance Award was presented to Port Trinitie, display by Sue Braun and Linda Dail.
The Community Appearance Awards program is administered by the town’s Community Improvement Committee (CIC). This is the second Seasonal Community Appearance Award presented with more expected during various times throughout the year.
Nominations for Best Seasonal Display and the Annual Community Appearance Award, can be made by any town resident or business person at anytime throughout the year. Nomination forms are available at the Town of Duck Office in the Waterfront Shops at 1240 Duck Road; on the Town of Duck web site at http://www.townofduck.com/; and soon to be at various businesses throughout the town.
