            B.                     Update on Spring Storm Beach Conditions

SUMMARY OF INFORMATION:

Recent damage to beach stairs in the area directly to the north of the USACE research pier is further evidence of the significant erosion occurring in this area.  Staff is providing an overview of the recent damage and some findings on erosion based on observations of the location of the first line of stable natural vegetation over the previous five years.  We have scheduled a meeting with USACE staff on May 23^rd to further understand what may be happening in this area and determine if it is related to the location of the pier.  We are also beginning to brainstorm solutions for hazard mitigation to these properties.
