The Town of Duck held its annual Fourth of July Celebration on Friday, July 4, 2008.
The day began at 9:00 a.m. with a traditional Fourth of July Parade. This year’s parade featured approximately 70 community entrants representing Duck businesses, subdivisions and homeowners’ associations, local police and firefighters, and various Outer Banks mainstays including theThe Lost Colony and the Corolla Wild Horse Fund.
The winners of the 2008 Parade Entry Awards were:
- Mayor's Award -- Duck Public Safety
- Best Homeowners Association -- Snow Geese Dunes Landowners Association
- Best Business Entry -- Kitty Hawk Kites
- Spirit Award -- Caffey's Inlet Hamlet Owners Association
The 2009 Town of Duck 4th of July Parade is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. The parade route begins at the corner of Duck Road (NC12) and Scarborough Lane. The route follows Scarborough Lane towards the ocean, turns left onto Ocean Way, and then heads down Christopher Drive ending back at Duck Road (NC12).
