4TH OF JULY

2009 TOWN OF DUCK 4TH OF JULY PARADE & AFTER-EVENT

Duck's Fourth of July Parade will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. with an after-event immediately following at the Duck Town Park. PLEASE NOTE that this year's parade is being held on FRIDAY, JULY 3RD which is the designated legal holiday so as not to conflict with weekend summer traffic.

The one-mile parade route is the same annually and begins at the corner of Duck Road (NC12) and Scarborough Lane. The route follows Scarborough Lane towards the ocean, turns left onto Ocean Way, and then heads down Christopher Drive ending back at Duck Road (NC12). If you are attending the parade, please arrive early so you can get a good spot on the parade route. Remember, NO PART OF THE PARADE IS ON DUCK ROAD (SR 12).

The Town of Duck is also welcoming children ages eight and over to participate in this year’s parade by riding bicycles or walking. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Decorations and costumes are also welcome!

Additionally, there will be a section for our canine friends sponsored by Outer Barks. Last year over a 100 dogs walked in the Town’s parade and sported their patriotic gear!  To register your dog or dogs to walk in the parade, please contact Outer Barks directly at (252) 261-6279. Come walk with your dog(s) in the parade and show off your patriotic spirit with your pooch.

If your child or you and your dog would like participate in this year’s Town of Duck Fourth of July Parade, please show up at the Scarborough Lane Shoppes back parking lot by 8:40 a.m. on Friday, July 3rd.

Immediately following the parade, the Town will be holding an after-event at the Duck Town Park at 1200 Duck Road.   The celebration will feature live music by Ruth Wyand and Friends, refreshments, and the awarding of trophies for the best parade entries.
